Audition for MLOC Stage Productions
Audition Requirements for our June 2012 show "Witches of Eastwick"
The Information Evening
will be held at 8:00pm on
Thursday November 17th
at the Church of Christ hall
in Como Parade, Parkdale.
Auditions will be held as follows:
- Tuesday 22nd November, Parkdale Church of Christ from 7pm.
- Thursday 24th November, 7pm.
- Sunday 27th November, Walter Meckiff Hall, Eblana Street, Mentone (includes dance audition at 1pm, extra auditions 2pm and callbacks if
required at 4pm)
The show -
will be presented in the Phoenix theatre in Elwood.

with 8 performances.
We always strive to improve our stage
performances - so expect the musical to
be even better than
previous shows.
Audition Preparation
Vocal:
Please prepare two songs, one in the style of the show and one contrasting.
Bring sheet music in folder ready for the accompanist. Must be in correct key.
Backing track on CDs are acceptable but must have no vocals.
Please note is it unlikely you will complete songs so choose an appropriate part of the song
which showcases your voice and range.
Reading:
Auditionees may prepare their own 1-2 minute monologue or read from the script
extracts available at the auditions.
Dance:
Auditions for dance troupe is Sunday 27th November at 1pm.
Please bring suitable clothing and shoes for jazz and ballet.
Dance items will be taught for the audition.
All dancers will be required to sing briefly. You can bring your own
short song or sing something supplied.
Dancers should be 15 years or older.
Arrive early enough to fill in the
appropriate forms and talk through your song
with the audition pianist.
Please be available for call backs on the
afternoon of Sunday 27th November.
Note rehearsals are: Tuesday and Thursday
evenings (in addition to these there may be
a number of
Sunday full day rehearsals)
Bring an appropriate one page biog, showing
shows performed including name of show,
company, role(s) and year.
Please also bring a current postcard
size colour photo (it doesn't have
to be a 10x8 glossy!).

Late 20s to 40s. Character Actress. Strong Harmony Ability. Movement: General. Old fashioned and emotionally closed off. Passionate about music but unable to 'let go' as a performer. Character mimes playing cello. Transforms into sex kitten. (Low A to High C)

20s to 30s. Comic actress. Strong harmony ability. Movement: General. Sweet and naïve, a bit 'ditzy', a librarian type. Loves words and is a voracious reader but unable to express herself and stammers. Learns confidence. (Low A to E)

|
40s, age almost unknown. Strong character actor with stage presence. Good mover. A charming mystery man (bad boy). Smooth and very keen on himself. Capable of fiery temper. Loves to seduce women and manipulate people around him to get what he wants. Needs to have really strong stage presence and be convincing as he seduces the witches, the townfolk and the audience. (Low A to High F)

30s to 50s. Strong singer. Strong character actor with stage presence. Movement: General. Upright leader of the community, married to Clyde the editor of the local newspaper. Paranoid about perceived immorality and evil. Believes everyone is happier "in step". Mentally fragile but outwardly tough. Controls the town through her cohorts of ladies and gossip. Goes crazy. (Low F to top A (opt C))

Around 18. Naïve hero. Good harmony ability. Movement: General. The young, pure, good son of Alexandra. Madly in love with Jennifer, daughter of Felicia and Clyde. Learns to find his naughty side. (Middle C to high G, top C (falsetto))

Around 18. Ingenue. Good harmony ability. Movement: General to good. Daughter to Felicia and Clyde and in love with Michael until she loses her parents and is seduced by Darryl. (Low A to D)

40+. Comic actor. Movement: General. Married to Felicia, a weak man with a lust for Sukie. Lives his life at Felicia's beck and call but resents every minute. Too spineless to leave and makes a series of feeble attempts to kill himself. Eventually tries to free himself from Felicia but too late. (D3 to D5)
