Audition Requirements for "Annie"

The Information Evening will be held at 8:00pm on Thursday April 22nd at the Church of Christ hall in Como Parade, Parkdale. 

Auditions will be held in the same hall:

  • Tuesday 27th April from 7:30pm
  • Thursday 29th April from 7:30pm
  • Saturday 1st May from 1pm
  • Sunday 2nd May at 1pm (Dance Auditions - Expose Dance School Studios, 1/282 Chesterville Rd., Moorabbin)
  • Tuesday 4th May from 7:30pm

The show - Annie - will be presented in the Phoenix theatre in Elwood.

It opens on Thursday November 4th and closes on Saturday November 13th with 10 performances.  The first rehearsal with be Tuesday May 11th.

We are looking for two casts of 20 girls aged between 5 and 13 years. We are seeking some good dancers, singers and actors. A good sense of beat, pitch and rhythm required ... and a voice that can project. All girls required to have good head voice technique to manage the range of songs.  Each cast will get 5 performances.

We need approximately 20 adult singers, dancers, actors. American accents required.

And a golden-coloured dog, trained to do tricks!

We always strive to improve our stage performances - so expect the musical to be even better than previous shows.

Audition Preparation

Prepare two songs (not from the show). One song in style of show and a song in contrasting style. American accent required for dialogue.

Bring sheet music in a key you wish to sing it. An audition pianist will be provided. (No taped music or requests to transpose)

Arrive early enough to fill in the appropriate forms and talk through your song with the audition pianist.

For the dance audition: Easy to move in clothing (no jeans) and footwear may either be jazz shoes, jazz sneakers or running shoes. Hair must be tied up. Please also bring a drink bottle just in case.

Please be available for call backs on the evening of Tues 4th May. Note rehearsals are: Tuesday and Thursday evenings (in addition to these there will be a number of Sunday full day rehearsals)

Bring an appropriate one page biog, showing shows performed including name of show, company, role(s) and year. Please also bring a current postcard size colour photo (it doesn't have to be a 10x8 glossy!). Click here to download the audition form - it will save time if you fill it out beforehand.

Annie
   
An eleven-year-old redheaded girl, optimistic and "spunky", seeking her parents. Big voiced, energetic, street-wise yet warm orphan

Miss Hannigan
   
The unpleasant unhappy orphanage matron, disillusioned, she hates children, but is fond of alcoholic beverages. Excellent comedic timing and acrid delivery.

Daddy Oliver Warbucks
   
Billionaire businessman who opens his home – and heart – to Annie. Warm-hearted, sincere, but business minded, lonely.
(Baritone, C to high F)
Grace Farrell
   
Warbucks' faithful secretary, who loves Annie from the start. Beautiful & loyal.
(Soprano, A to high G)
Rooster
   
Miss Hannigan's no-good brother, out for the quick buck.

Lily St. Regis
   
Rooster's girlfriend, is smarter than she appears.
